A few words from Ian from the Soggy Biscuit Tea Dance Band.
It is with a heavy heart that I feel obliged to cancel the Tea-Dances for April, May and June, especially as many of us fit into the “vulnerable” category.
I know we all gain pleasure, well-being, social interaction, health and fitness, through our dancing, but we need to look after ourselves so that we can return to them once it is safe to do so.
Please stay in touch with each other by social media and telephone and remember to keep active by walking in quiet places in nature – this may even have to be stopped if people don’t keep the 2m distance from each other – remember to keep feeding the birds who will soon be coping with their early broods and trying to snatch high-protein energy food to keep themselves going through the breeding season. Watch and observe them and look out for wild animals too – such things can absorb the mind and help quieten any fears and worries that might arise from the imposed isolation.
If you have a little garden, a space for pots or tubs, or even a window box, try sewing a few seeds – watching them sprout and turn into wonderful flowers or salad leaves, herbs or a cauliflower or two can be very therapeutic as it reminds us we are very much part of nature.
Hopefully we will be able to get together again in the Summer, in the meantime, enjoy the sun and the energy of Springtime.
With all good wishes,
Soggy Biscuit Band
