Civility & Respect Pledge
At last week’s Town Council meeting, Councillors agreed unanimously to sign a Civility & Respect Pledge.
We are now listed alongside other councils on a national map that shows the councils that have already signed up and, in Dorset, we join – Gillingham Town Council, West Moors Town Council and Verwood Town Council.
Signing up to the Civility and Respect Pledge is one of the ways a council can demonstrate that it is committed to standing up to poor behaviour across its sector, and to demonstrating positive changes which support civil and respectful conduct.
Last night, Councillors and the Town Clerk joined the Mayor of Blandford Forum, Cllr Colin Stevens who is holding the certificate stating the Town Council’s commitment to the Pledge.
Thanks to the Society of Local Council Clerks, the National Association of Local Councils and the Dorset Association of Parish & Town Councils for their leadership and support in this initiative, along with the Civility and Respect Working Group.
